Do you do this?
DON’T KILL THE TASTE!!!!!    We often hear about how store bought tomatoes don’t taste as good as garden grown tomatoes.  Typically it’s not the type or variety you buy but HOW you store them.  If you’re not storing them properly you’ll always have pale looking tomatoes that have a bland taste profile. SO for all of you who put your tomatoes in the fridge…PLEASE STOP!!!  It’s the worst thing you can do---this beautiful fruit will turn into a peach colored water logged mush in 4-5 days.  Check out the attached storage comparison pics.  You’ll get a deep red color, higher sugar brix content and a firm cavity if tomatoes are left out on the counter in your kitchen.  Tomatoes are low in calories, low in sodium and low in carbs but high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B-6, Iron and Calcium.  Studies have shown that tomatoes will help lower the risk of certain cancers especially lung, stomach and prostate cancers.  Lycopene is the substance in tomatoes that gives it their color and protective effects.  Tomatoes and COLD STORAGE don’t mix.
