Winter Favorite - Beef Chili

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 small green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 (16-ounce) cans red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 2 (14-1/2-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin

Directions

Take a large skillet and cook the onion, green pepper, ground beef and garlic over medium heat.  Stir until eavenly cooked with no pink remaining.  Drain the pan of excess grease.  Take all remaining ingredients & the cooked mixture & cook in a slow cooker for 3.5 hours on high or at least 5 on low.  If you would like to thicken the chili, add crushed crackers until it's where you want it. 

Try your own variation by adding your favorite ingredients to taste!  Spice it up with a jalapeno or add a few slices of rich cooked sliced bacon.
